Microcement Application

Microcement worktops

Seamless kitchen worktops shaped to any layout — sinks integrated without joints, splashbacks flowing up the wall, finished in any colour.

Why choose microcement worktops

A microcement worktop is poured and finished as a single continuous surface — there is no join between the counter and the splashback, no silicone gap around the sink, no edge banding to lift over time. The result is a kitchen surface that reads as one calm plane.

Underneath is a moisture-stable substrate (typically marine ply or cement board). On top, two base coats and two finish coats of microcement, each hand-troweled, then a two-stage sealer rated for heat, stain and food contact. The total finish is around 3 mm, so your existing cabinets fit unchanged.

Key benefits

Heat and stain resistant

Sealed microcement worktops handle hot pans, oils and acidic liquids that would mark wood, laminate or polished concrete.

Seamless sink integration

Sinks and splashbacks are finished into the same continuous surface — no silicone joints, no edge to lift.

Any shape, any layout

Curves, islands, breakfast bars, awkward corners — microcement conforms to any cabinet layout that traditional slabs can't.

Renovate without rip-out

Apply directly over existing laminate or solid worktops. No need to disconnect plumbing or replace cabinetry.

Hygienic non-porous surface

Sealed microcement has no grout joints or seams where bacteria can collect. Wipe clean with mild detergent.

Custom colour matching

Any of 40+ standard colours, or custom-matched to your kitchen palette. Hand-troweled finish gives subtle character.

Finishes

Three signature finishes

All three finishes are available in any of our 40+ standard colours. Choose by tactility — smooth for gallery-like calm, stucco for handcrafted warmth, coarse for industrial character.

Smooth microcement finish

Smooth

The most refined of the three styles. Minimal visible trowel marks for a near-uniform appearance — best for contemporary, minimalist interiors.

Stucco effect microcement finish

Stucco effect

Visible hand-troweled texture with subtle cloud-like tonal variations. The classic Venetian plaster character — depth without busy pattern.

Coarse effect microcement finish

Coarse effect

Pronounced grain and tactile surface texture. The most expressive finish — best for industrial, rustic or characterful interiors.

How it works

Our installation process

From first site visit to final sealed surface, every project follows the same four-stage process. Exact timelines depend on the size of the area and substrate condition — we'll confirm a schedule with your quote.

  1. 01 Free

    Site visit & quote

Free in-person consultation across London & Surrey. We assess the substrate, talk through colour and finish options, and provide a fixed-price quote.

  2. 02

    Surface preparation

Existing substrate cleaned, repaired, primed and reinforced with fibreglass mesh where required. The hidden step that decides everything.

  3. 03

    Microcement application

Two base coats and two finish coats applied by hand at ~2–3mm total thickness. Each layer is troweled and sanded to your chosen texture.

  4. 04

    Sealing & protection

Pre-sealer and topsealer applied to lock in colour and create a fully washable, water-resistant surface. Cure time 24–48 hours before normal use.

Common questions

Microcement worktops — FAQ

Can I put a hot pan directly on a microcement worktop?
For occasional contact, yes — the sealer system is rated for heat. For sustained heat (like a baking tray straight from the oven) we always recommend a trivet, the same as you would on most kitchen surfaces.
Is it food-safe?
Yes. Once sealed with our food-contact-rated top sealer, microcement worktops are non-porous and safe for direct food prep. Wipe clean with pH-neutral cleaner.
Will it stain from wine, oil or coffee?
Sealed surfaces resist staining from typical kitchen liquids. As with any worktop, wipe up acidic spills (lemon juice, red wine) reasonably promptly to keep the sealer at peak performance.
Can the sink be integrated without a visible joint?
Yes — under-mounted and integrated sinks are finished into the same continuous microcement surface. There is no silicone bead or edge transition to lift over time.
What's underneath the microcement?
Either marine-grade plywood or cement-board substrate over your existing cabinet carcasses. The substrate is moisture-stable and rigid enough to support the full 3 mm finished microcement layer with no flex.
