Microcement Application

Microcement pools

Seamless pool linings with no tiles to lift or re-grout. Custom colours that change how the water reads — from Caribbean turquoise to deep architectural slate.

Why choose microcement for pools

Tile failure is the most common reason pools need re-lining. Individual tiles loosen, grout washes out, and after a few years the maintenance schedule overtakes the swimming schedule. A microcement-lined pool has no tiles, no grout, and no joints — the entire basin is one continuous waterproof surface.

Pool-grade microcement is a specialised formulation rated for permanent submersion, chlorine, and the typical chemistry of a domestic pool. We finish in any of 40+ colours — from light beach tones that read as brilliant turquoise once filled, through to deep slate finishes that give an architectural infinity-pool effect.

Key benefits

No tiles to lift or re-grout

Eliminates the most common pool maintenance issue. Continuous surface means no individual elements to fail.

Resort-style finish

Smooth continuous lining gives the architectural infinity-pool look — water reads as one unbroken plane.

Renovate over existing pool

Apply directly over an existing tiled or rendered pool. No demolition, no full re-lining required.

Custom water-tone colour

Lighter colours read as turquoise in fill water, deeper tones give a slate-blue or architectural dark finish.

Chemical-resistant sealer

Pool-grade top sealer is rated for chlorine, salt-water systems and standard pool chemistry.

Seamless to deck

The pool lining and surrounding deck can both be finished in microcement for an unbroken visual line.

Where it works

  • New-build pool linings — interior and waterline
  • Renovation of existing tiled pools
  • Spa pools and integrated hot tubs
  • Plunge pools, infinity edges and overflow channels
  • Pool decks, surrounds and adjacent garden surfaces
Finishes

Three signature finishes

All three finishes are available in any of our 40+ standard colours. Choose by tactility — smooth for gallery-like calm, stucco for handcrafted warmth, coarse for industrial character.

Smooth microcement finish

Smooth

The most refined of the three styles. Minimal visible trowel marks for a near-uniform appearance — best for contemporary, minimalist interiors.

Stucco effect microcement finish

Stucco effect

Visible hand-troweled texture with subtle cloud-like tonal variations. The classic Venetian plaster character — depth without busy pattern.

Coarse effect microcement finish

Coarse effect

Pronounced grain and tactile surface texture. The most expressive finish — best for industrial, rustic or characterful interiors.

How it works

Our installation process

From first site visit to final sealed surface, every project follows the same four-stage process. Exact timelines depend on the size of the area and substrate condition — we'll confirm a schedule with your quote.

  1. 01 Free

    Site visit & quote

Free in-person consultation across London & Surrey. We assess the substrate, talk through colour and finish options, and provide a fixed-price quote.

  2. 02

    Surface preparation

Existing substrate cleaned, repaired, primed and reinforced with fibreglass mesh where required. The hidden step that decides everything.

  3. 03

    Microcement application

Two base coats and two finish coats applied by hand at ~2–3mm total thickness. Each layer is troweled and sanded to your chosen texture.

  4. 04

    Sealing & protection

Pre-sealer and topsealer applied to lock in colour and create a fully washable, water-resistant surface. Cure time 24–48 hours before normal use.

Common questions

Microcement pools — FAQ

Can microcement go over my existing tiled pool?
Yes — and that's how most pool renovations are done. We sand and prime the existing tile surface, reinforce with fibreglass mesh, then apply the pool-grade microcement layer. No drain-and-demolish required.
Is it rated for chlorine and salt-water systems?
Yes. We use a pool-specific top sealer rated for chlorinated, salt-water, and oxidised pool chemistry. It performs across all standard domestic pool systems.
Will the pool water look different?
Yes — and intentionally so. Lighter microcement colours (sands, light greys) make pool water read as bright turquoise. Mid-tones give a Mediterranean blue. Deep slate tones give the architectural near-black look popular in modern pool design.
How long does it last underwater?
Domestic pools refinished in microcement typically run 12–15 years before any re-coat is needed. Chemistry, UV exposure, and how aggressively the pool is brushed affect lifespan within that range.
Can it be repaired if damaged?
Yes — touch-up patches blend in well because there are no tile or grout lines to match. Larger damage typically gets a full top re-coat (one full finish layer), which is far less invasive than re-tiling.
