Microcement Application

Microcement bathrooms

Fully waterproof bathroom finishes with no grout lines, no panel joints — a single continuous surface flowing from floor to wall to ceiling.

Why choose microcement for bathrooms

Tiled bathrooms age in the joints. Grout discolours, mould creeps in, and re-grouting every few years becomes part of the maintenance cycle. Microcement bathrooms remove the joints entirely — there is one continuous, sealed surface from the floor through the walls and into the shower enclosure.

The visual benefit is calm and modern; the practical benefit is no grout to clean. We apply over existing tiles, plasterboard or screed at 2–3 mm thickness, finish in any of 40+ colours, and seal with a two-stage system that's rated for daily showering.

Key benefits

Fully waterproof

Sealed microcement is rated for daily showering and standing water. No grout means no entry points for moisture.

No grout, no mould

Eliminates the joints where mould and bacteria typically build up — making the bathroom hygienic and easier to keep clean.

Seamless floor-to-wall

The same finish flows from the floor up the walls and around the shower with no visible transitions.

Apply over existing tiles

No demolition, no plumbing rework. We sand and prime your tiles, then apply microcement directly over the top.

Built-in features

Niches, shower seats, vanity tops and recessed shelving can all be finished in the same continuous surface.

Easy daily care

Wipe with a damp cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner. No grout to scrub, no silicone to replace.

  • Curved and irregular layouts under stairs or in loft conversions
  • Hotel and spa-style commercial bathrooms
Finishes

Three signature finishes

All three finishes are available in any of our 40+ standard colours. Choose by tactility — smooth for gallery-like calm, stucco for handcrafted warmth, coarse for industrial character.

Smooth microcement finish

Smooth

The most refined of the three styles. Minimal visible trowel marks for a near-uniform appearance — best for contemporary, minimalist interiors.

Stucco effect microcement finish

Stucco effect

Visible hand-troweled texture with subtle cloud-like tonal variations. The classic Venetian plaster character — depth without busy pattern.

Coarse effect microcement finish

Coarse effect

Pronounced grain and tactile surface texture. The most expressive finish — best for industrial, rustic or characterful interiors.

How it works

Our installation process

From first site visit to final sealed surface, every project follows the same four-stage process. Exact timelines depend on the size of the area and substrate condition — we'll confirm a schedule with your quote.

  1. 01 Free

    Site visit & quote

Free in-person consultation across London & Surrey. We assess the substrate, talk through colour and finish options, and provide a fixed-price quote.

  2. 02

    Surface preparation

Existing substrate cleaned, repaired, primed and reinforced with fibreglass mesh where required. The hidden step that decides everything.

  3. 03

    Microcement application

Two base coats and two finish coats applied by hand at ~2–3mm total thickness. Each layer is troweled and sanded to your chosen texture.

  4. 04

    Sealing & protection

Pre-sealer and topsealer applied to lock in colour and create a fully washable, water-resistant surface. Cure time 24–48 hours before normal use.

Common questions

Microcement bathrooms — FAQ

Is microcement really waterproof in a daily-use shower?
Yes, when correctly applied and sealed. We use a two-coat pre-sealer plus a two-coat top sealer specifically rated for wet-zone use. Most of our shower enclosures and full wet-rooms use this exact system.
Can I have it over my existing bathroom tiles?
Yes — and that's how we install most bathrooms. The tiles are sanded, primed and the joints reinforced with fibreglass mesh. Grout lines do not telegraph through the final finish.
Will the floor be slippery?
We use a slip-resistant top sealer in shower zones and on bathroom floors. The grip is enough for wet feet without changing the smooth visual character of the finish.
How long does a bathroom take to install?
Average single bathroom: 8–12 working days from first prep coat to final cure. The bathroom is unusable for the duration. We'll confirm a schedule with your quote.
Can microcement be used on the ceiling too?
Yes. Many clients extend the same finish onto the ceiling for a fully wrapped, monolithic look. Same prep, same coats, same sealer.
