Microcement Application

Microcement showers

Walk-in showers and wet rooms finished as a single continuous surface — no grout, no panels, no door required. Fully waterproof when sealed.

Why choose microcement for showers

A traditional tiled shower has more than a hundred metres of grout in a typical enclosure. That grout is the weak link — it discolours, harbours mould, and is the first thing to fail when re-grouting is overdue. A microcement shower has zero grout. The walls, the floor, the seat, the niche shelf — all one continuous sealed surface.

Combined with a properly graded shower tray and our two-stage waterproofing system, the result is a fully water-resistant wet room that needs nothing more than a damp cloth to keep clean.

Key benefits

No grout, no mould

Eliminates the only place mould typically forms in a shower. Sealed continuous surface means no joints to discolour.

Walk-in, no door needed

The seamless waterproof surface allows open wet-room layouts without a glass screen or shower tray edge.

Built-in seats and niches

Custom seating, recessed shelving and shampoo niches all finish into the same continuous microcement surface.

Curved and awkward layouts

Loft conversions, under-stair showers, irregular footprints — microcement adapts to any shape.

Fully waterproof when sealed

Two-coat pre-sealer plus two-coat top sealer rated for daily showering. Tested in our wet-rooms across London and Surrey.

Spa-like aesthetic

Calm, monolithic finish with subtle hand-troweled character — closer to a luxury hotel spa than a tiled bathroom.

Where it works

  • Open walk-in wet rooms with no glass screen
  • En-suite showers in irregular loft and under-stair spaces
  • Built-in shower seats and integrated niche shelving
  • Curved or angular shower enclosures
  • Hotel and spa-grade commercial showers
Finishes

Three signature finishes

All three finishes are available in any of our 40+ standard colours. Choose by tactility — smooth for gallery-like calm, stucco for handcrafted warmth, coarse for industrial character.

Smooth microcement finish

Smooth

The most refined of the three styles. Minimal visible trowel marks for a near-uniform appearance — best for contemporary, minimalist interiors.

Stucco effect microcement finish

Stucco effect

Visible hand-troweled texture with subtle cloud-like tonal variations. The classic Venetian plaster character — depth without busy pattern.

Coarse effect microcement finish

Coarse effect

Pronounced grain and tactile surface texture. The most expressive finish — best for industrial, rustic or characterful interiors.

How it works

Our installation process

From first site visit to final sealed surface, every project follows the same four-stage process. Exact timelines depend on the size of the area and substrate condition — we'll confirm a schedule with your quote.

  1. 01 Free

    Site visit & quote

Free in-person consultation across London & Surrey. We assess the substrate, talk through colour and finish options, and provide a fixed-price quote.

  2. 02

    Surface preparation

Existing substrate cleaned, repaired, primed and reinforced with fibreglass mesh where required. The hidden step that decides everything.

  3. 03

    Microcement application

Two base coats and two finish coats applied by hand at ~2–3mm total thickness. Each layer is troweled and sanded to your chosen texture.

  4. 04

    Sealing & protection

Pre-sealer and topsealer applied to lock in colour and create a fully washable, water-resistant surface. Cure time 24–48 hours before normal use.

Common questions

Microcement showers — FAQ

Is a microcement shower really waterproof for daily use?
Yes. We've installed dozens of wet-rooms and walk-in showers using a two-coat pre-sealer plus two-coat top sealer system specifically rated for full immersion / wet-zone use. Daily showering is well within its rated use.
Will the shower floor be slippery?
We specify a slip-resistant top sealer for shower floors and the immediate splash zone. The grip is enough for wet bare feet without making the surface look or feel different from the rest of the bathroom.
Can I have a walk-in shower with no glass screen?
Yes — that's the open wet-room layout. With a properly graded floor toward a linear drain plus the wet-zone sealer system, water stays in the shower zone and the rest of the bathroom stays dry.
Can niches and shelves be built in?
Yes. We finish any built-in feature in the same continuous microcement surface — niches, recessed shelving, ledges, shower benches, integrated shampoo holders.
How does it compare to tiles for cost?
For a similar level of finish, microcement showers tend to land in the same total cost range as high-quality large-format tiling — labour-intensive but no grouting, fewer fittings, no specialist tile-cutters needed.
