Microcement Application

Microcement flooring

Continuous, hard-wearing floor finishes applied at just 2–3mm thick. No joints, no grout, no demolition — laid directly over your existing floor.

Why choose microcement flooring

A microcement floor reads as one continuous plane from wall to wall — no grout lines breaking up the room, no thresholds between zones, no boards meeting badly at the edges. The visual effect is calm and architectural; the practical effect is a floor that feels bigger, cleans faster, and survives heavy use.

Because we lay over your existing screed or tile, there is no demolition, no waste skip, no week-long dust event. The total finish thickness is 2–3 mm, so doors don't need re-hanging and skirtings stay put. Sealed correctly, the floor is fully washable and works with underfloor heating.

Key benefits

Lays over existing floors

Direct overlay on screed, concrete, tile, or wood subfloors — no demolition, no waste, no thickness penalty.

Underfloor heating compatible

Conducts heat efficiently. Works with electric and water-based underfloor systems without cracking under thermal cycling.

Hard-wearing finish

Engineered for high-traffic floors. Resists abrasion, scratching, and impact in residential and commercial settings.

Continuous from room to room

No thresholds, no transitions. The same finish flows through living areas, kitchens and hallways for a unified look.

Fully washable

Sealed surface wipes clean with a damp mop. No grout to scrub, no joints to trap dirt.

Low-profile installation

Total thickness 2–3 mm including sealers. Doors, skirtings, and adjacent floor levels stay where they are.

Where it works

  • Open-plan living, dining and kitchen floors
  • Hallways, corridors and entryways with heavy footfall
  • Bathroom and wet-room floors with underfloor heating
  • Retail, hospitality and commercial spaces
  • Garage conversions and basement levels
Finishes

Three signature finishes

All three finishes are available in any of our 40+ standard colours. Choose by tactility — smooth for gallery-like calm, stucco for handcrafted warmth, coarse for industrial character.

Smooth microcement finish

Smooth

The most refined of the three styles. Minimal visible trowel marks for a near-uniform appearance — best for contemporary, minimalist interiors.

Stucco effect microcement finish

Stucco effect

Visible hand-troweled texture with subtle cloud-like tonal variations. The classic Venetian plaster character — depth without busy pattern.

Coarse effect microcement finish

Coarse effect

Pronounced grain and tactile surface texture. The most expressive finish — best for industrial, rustic or characterful interiors.

How it works

Our installation process

From first site visit to final sealed surface, every project follows the same four-stage process. Exact timelines depend on the size of the area and substrate condition — we'll confirm a schedule with your quote.

  1. 01 Free

    Site visit & quote

Free in-person consultation across London & Surrey. We assess the substrate, talk through colour and finish options, and provide a fixed-price quote.

  2. 02

    Surface preparation

Existing substrate cleaned, repaired, primed and reinforced with fibreglass mesh where required. The hidden step that decides everything.

  3. 03

    Microcement application

Two base coats and two finish coats applied by hand at ~2–3mm total thickness. Each layer is troweled and sanded to your chosen texture.

  4. 04

    Sealing & protection

Pre-sealer and topsealer applied to lock in colour and create a fully washable, water-resistant surface. Cure time 24–48 hours before normal use.

Common questions

Microcement flooring — FAQ

Can I lay microcement over my existing tiles?
Yes. We sand the tiles, prime them, and apply fibreglass mesh over the joints before the microcement coats. The grout lines do not telegraph through the finish.
Does it work with underfloor heating?
Yes — microcement conducts heat well and survives the daily expansion/contraction of underfloor heating systems without cracking. Both electric mat and wet pipe systems are compatible.
How thick is a microcement floor?
2–3 mm total including sealers. This is much thinner than tile + adhesive (10–15 mm) so floor levels stay roughly the same and doors usually don't need adjusting.
Is it slippery when wet?
No more than tile. We can specify a slip-resistant top sealer for wet-zone floors and outdoor steps, which adds light grip without changing the look.
Can it be used in bathrooms and wet rooms?
Yes — once fully sealed it is waterproof. We use a two-coat pre-sealer plus two-coat top sealer system in wet rooms to lock the surface against splashes and standing water.
