Microcement Application

Microcement furniture

Bespoke microcement furniture — tables, benches, reception desks and built-ins finished in the same continuous surface as your walls and floors.

Why choose microcement for furniture

Microcement isn't limited to walls and floors. Apply it to a substrate (typically marine ply or MDF), and you can finish dining tables, benches, reception desks, fireplaces, and built-in seating in the same continuous surface as the rest of the space.

For interior designers and architects, this opens up a level of material consistency that's difficult to achieve with traditional finishes — every visible surface in a room can be the same monolithic plane, with no transitions between wall, floor, and bespoke joinery.

Key benefits

Material consistency

Walls, floor, fireplace, table and built-ins can all share the same finish for a fully unified room.

Bespoke statement pieces

One-off dining tables, reception desks, monolithic fireplaces — sculpted into any shape from a microcemented substrate.

Apply to existing furniture

Refinish an existing table, bench or built-in unit in microcement instead of replacing it. Substrate is prepared then finished as new.

Hard-wearing surface

Sealed microcement on furniture takes daily use — drinks, cutlery, laptops — without scratching or staining.

Any colour, any texture

40+ standard colours, three finish styles. Match the rest of the space exactly or use furniture as a tonal accent.

Custom commercial pieces

Reception desks, hospitality counters, bespoke commercial seating — all available in microcement at scale.

Where it works

  • Dining tables and console tables
  • Built-in seating and integrated bench tops
  • Reception desks for offices, hotels and retail
  • Monolithic fireplace surrounds and hearths
  • Outdoor garden tables and built-in BBQ counters
Finishes

Three signature finishes

All three finishes are available in any of our 40+ standard colours. Choose by tactility — smooth for gallery-like calm, stucco for handcrafted warmth, coarse for industrial character.

Smooth microcement finish

Smooth

The most refined of the three styles. Minimal visible trowel marks for a near-uniform appearance — best for contemporary, minimalist interiors.

Stucco effect microcement finish

Stucco effect

Visible hand-troweled texture with subtle cloud-like tonal variations. The classic Venetian plaster character — depth without busy pattern.

Coarse effect microcement finish

Coarse effect

Pronounced grain and tactile surface texture. The most expressive finish — best for industrial, rustic or characterful interiors.

How it works

Our installation process

From first site visit to final sealed surface, every project follows the same four-stage process. Exact timelines depend on the size of the area and substrate condition — we'll confirm a schedule with your quote.

  1. 01 Free

    Site visit & quote

Free in-person consultation across London & Surrey. We assess the substrate, talk through colour and finish options, and provide a fixed-price quote.

  2. 02

    Surface preparation

Existing substrate cleaned, repaired, primed and reinforced with fibreglass mesh where required. The hidden step that decides everything.

  3. 03

    Microcement application

Two base coats and two finish coats applied by hand at ~2–3mm total thickness. Each layer is troweled and sanded to your chosen texture.

  4. 04

    Sealing & protection

Pre-sealer and topsealer applied to lock in colour and create a fully washable, water-resistant surface. Cure time 24–48 hours before normal use.

Common questions

Microcement furniture — FAQ

Can my existing dining table be refinished in microcement?
Yes, provided it's structurally sound. We prepare the existing top with a substrate layer, apply the standard microcement coats, and seal with a food-safe top sealer rated for table use.
Is the surface food-safe?
Yes — we use a food-contact-rated top sealer for tables and counters. The surface is non-porous and easy to wipe clean after meals.
Will it scratch from cutlery or plates?
Sealed microcement is scratch-resistant from normal cutlery and plate use. It's not as hard as quartz or stone — for very heavy commercial use a thicker top sealer can be specified.
Can it match the floor or walls exactly?
Yes — that's the most common reason designers specify it. Furniture is finished in the same colour and finish as the surrounding microcement walls or floors for a fully unified look.
Is it suitable for outdoor furniture?
Yes, with the outdoor formulation and UV-stable pigments. Garden tables, outdoor benches, and BBQ surrounds are all common applications.
